best freeware synth or vst with the best sounds of pads and strin

I am looking for the best recommended freeware synth or vst with the most impressive sounds pads and strings. I used to have a working copy of Spectrasonics Atmosphere but not anymore but that had the nicest and most warm pad and string sounds EVER!

Any suggestions?

What happened to your copy of atmosphere? Did you sell it? If not, call Spectrasonics and get it worked out, that's what you paid your money for!

agreed on synth 1. Tbh among the best sounding freeware there is with a phat detuning knob. Check out my website for some trancy sounds
