There's a tutorial on how to create a "standard" trance tune in this forum. Check it out. It can give you some basic ideas.

Try posting your work, so people can take a listen and see what you're doing wrong.

Yea 160 is HHC speed

Not looking for any type of standard as i will just end up mimicing somone elses production.
I have my own ideas of sound and structure.
Your probally right just need to pic out fav trance choons and rinse the shit out of them.
Mabye just trancing only is the key.
I did want to go see Benga and Skream on the 18th.
Must fight the urge to get pumped on other EDM and stick with trance.

Do you want the original trance from the early 1990s or the 1999 - 2001 style of epic trance?

Early '90s trance: anywhere from 125 - 150 BPM; lots of acid (303) and high-resonance squelchy noises; short breakdowns (usually thirty seconds to a minute) or no breakdowns at all; you can try throwing in some spoken word samples or "ethnic" sounding vocals; percussion will mostly be relatively simple 909 or 808 style drums and hits plus some tribal-sounding drum and perc samples; lots of weird and spacey noises and pads; most common effects are probably delay and reverb; melodies are mostly very short, one to four bars generally.

Late '90s trance: usually around 135 - 145 BPM; lots of supersaw pads and saw leads; longer breakdowns (usually from two to three minutes) where the track pretty much stops completely; if you use vocals, they should be light and breathy and have some simple lyrics with basic pop themes of love, loss, and heartache; breakdown includes a low-pass filtered supersaw with gradually increasing cutoff frequency and probably a snare roll; percussion will be a big thumping kick with a very loud clap or snare and some hats with a delay on them; noise washes; melodic elements will often have a ton of delay and reverb; melodies are longer, stretching out sometimes to four, sixteen, or even thirty-two bars.

As a general guide that's about it, I think.

Was gonna go for vocals more over instrumental, added some of my own auto tuned. Can't sing worth shit so gonna have to find a vocalist.

- Learn how to harmonize and use counter melodies.
- Make sure you make use of most of the frequency spectrum (Obviously not to the point of muddiness).
- Achieve rythmic drive. This is unfortunately something that isn't easy to describe. Everyone does it differently. But it's mostly due to the way the bassline and the percs are programmed.

these things take time, as i've said in other forums... this stuff is HARD, not easy.
