Mystery deepens...
Well, for anyone who may be interested, I've solved one mystery and created another.
The version of Madagascar on my friend's downloaded trance album (which she can't remember much about acquiring) which said it was the Cygnus X remix is by Cygnus X, but isn't Madagascar. It's The Orange Theme, specifically the Bervoets & De Goeij Remix. Recognised it straight away after listening to Crasher Wet again and hearing the moonman remix then trawling web for other versions.
How come the tunes are so similar? Mad must have beem written by Simon Berry, with its own legacy of remixes (including cygnus), and then Orange wa written by the 2 dudes from Cygnus, but they sound the same. I'll have to go back and double check, maybe i'm getting it wrong...
