The upcoming long weekend is a bit screwed. For those of you who are working, whick day are you working? Even though the holiday is Tue, many companies will take Mon off and work Tue. What's yours doing?

AFAIK companies have to take the Tuesday off. The only time the holiday may change is if it lies on a Sunday. But then, what do I know?

I have to work Monday but since I'll be at the Guv Monday night/Tuesday morning, and then BeatsAhoy Tuesday afternoon, I've also taken Wednesday off.

I want to go to Guv also, but if we're working Tue, them I'm up shits creek!

Correct, the statutory holiday is Tuesday July 1st.

If you get the Monday off then your company is being very generous, or just letting everyone use a vacation day/sick/ etc.


Monday is a business day as always ie. all government offices are open, all business are open, all trading is open (Ex. TSX), etc.

Come to think of it, this holiday is sucky 'cause Guv went and made the event Mon night. I see MOST ppl's companies are probably going to take Mon off and work on Tue... including mine. We all can't just take Tue off to go clubbing. I'm going to have to convince the company I work for to take BOTH days off to fix my dilemma.

I'm on a mission... must focus!

Most people don't have a choice on the matter. They have to give their employees Tuesday off since it is a STATUTORY holiday.

I'm pretty sure most people are working on the Monday and have the Tuesday off...

There is only one case where an individual will get the following day off and that is if Canada Day is on a Sunday:
* The Holidays Act provides that July 2 is Canada Day when July 1 is a Sunday.
