Whats up man, nice top see another hardstyle dj on this forum, but don't get too comfortable with this forum .... as far as hardstyle goes, it's really really weak. You won't get many responses or DL's, as i've found out. People here aren't into hardstyle, except myself, and maybe a couple more. Try your luck on Globalhardstyle.com, i've been there, you'll get more DL's and responses, from true hardstylers . But, one thing, on that forum you should really use CDJ's or Vinyl, tractor/ableton is frowned upon, I don't like it myself, I only use vinyl. But I'll check out your mix.
Cheers

Hey JoyRyde,
First of all when i downloaded hit play a tune just seemed to come on not even from the start of the tune, and then volume seemed to go all over the place. Plus it's very distorted and honestly it ruins the listening pleasure - a lot of people would just bin it immediately. When you're making a mix you should get your levels all sorted first then record; an absolute nightmare for me would be making an amazing dj mix, only to realise afterwards that it was distorted, and once it's distorted it's basically impossible to undistort.
I think what you should do is just concentrate on learning to mix, full stop. The problem is with all this new technology is these programmes seem like cheats (i'm kind of ignorant about them, but they seem that way to me). Like when you mix on normal decks you have to tune your ear to the speeds of the 2 records whereas with these programmes it's half done for you isn't it.
About the actual mix:
You just seemed to fade out a tune then bring in "Sky High", (i think you have called it True High, but it's sky high i'm sure) it didn't sound like there was any beat matching, so what you need to do if you want to learn how to mix is listen in your headphones to beatmatch cue it in bring in the crossfader to the middle and see how it goes! We weren't all smooth mixers to begin with. Then you just bring in the next tune like a radio dj cutting a tune across, ie there's no mixing. So if you want people's opinions on mixing for instance, you should just do a normal beat-matching mix, okay it might be sloppy but it's the only way to learn. Personally i found the sirens cheesy, but this is a personal opinion - as i found some of the tunes in the extremely short selection, cheesy, but i prefer the hardstyle that's more hard trance orientated that hardstyle that's closer to hardcore, but still the sirens to me were a cheesy touch.
| quote: | | It's only a 8 min set...Didn't want to post a massive one and waste your time. |
This will probably have the opposite effect; ie a 8 minute mix will sound pointless, like what's the point.
| quote: | (they are in no order...they are mostly remixed and tons of extra sounds vocals(sirens etc added in while live mixing)
Other vocals are from songs in themselves. Placements were changed.

I'm kind of confused! When you're listing the tracklist you put song 1 first song 2 2nd and so on
1 song 1
2 song 2
3 song 3
Placements were changed? What does this mean?
Anyway i think if you are serious about becoming a dj, you need to learn how to beatmatch. At the end of the day it's practice; you just need to practice until your ear can tell when a tune is too slow/fast, and ideally with real decks (although i know a set up is expensive).

hey dude appreciate the feedback. i will take your suggestions and try and work on them.
Thanks man.
By placements i just mean't that i repeated parts of tracks at different times in the song. I will work on he volume and distortion and the beat matching. Hopefully the next set is better.I will invest in a some proper equipment this week and try and do it better.
