Dunno Xone:42 and MIDI Support: Is it but a dream?

Well, I've been eyeing the xone:42 for many months now, and I'm about ready to bite the bullet. Many of its features make this the perfect mixer for me, but I've got one lingering question that I can't seem to get a straight answer to.

Is the Xone:42's usb abilities capable of doing anything MIDI?

From what I can tell in the specs, the answer is no. The usb 1.1 (yuck) connection is used to send a dual channel stereo sound, or receive one.

It claims it can be connected to a laptop to playback music or record. What do they mean by 'playback music'? It's such a non specific feature to list...

Does anyone in the know have any idea what it truly can do? I'll keep scouring the wuhwuhwuh some more, hopefully something comes up.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm not looking to get something with MIDI. I'm merely wondering if the 42 has any support for it.

And at that price, I may as well go with a DJM800.

Has no midi capability and was never advertised as such. The USB connect will be great for direct digital recording, and it adds a line in, but thats it.

Correct. The USB "from" your PC just goes to an aux input of the music, the "to" your PC is good for recording. The fact that it's USB 1.1 doesn't matter, because there isn't enough audio going through the link to warrant USB 2.0. Heck, even Serato still uses USB 1.1.

MIDI support on mixers sounds good, but in practice it's not overly useful on most (like the DJM-800 or Xone 92). The Korg is better, and the Ecler Nuo 4 is done nicely as well.
