A breath of fresh air - progressive house or trance

http://lego.zianet.com/tilda140/almostdone.mp3

Dying for some feedback, as I started this project earlier today, taking a break for most of the day, I came back and laid these touches on it. And as you can hear it's nearly complete. Very exciting to be able to produce a track in one day, after my pretty bad track record of producing hundreds of unfinished tracks!

Also, each track I've posted on here nearly ends up in the scrap heap. What I've learned from all those tracks, however, is priceless. Basically I *think* I know what sounds good and what doesn't, and up until now everything I've made in my humble opinion hasn't been that great. The heart was there but the sheer technical backbone of the production was absent.

Track is 6:47 in length, at 192k birate.

*Update, originally I accidently uploaded the wrong Mp3 but now almostdone.mp3 is the correct one, at 6:47

All the sample is, is bass and percs which are nice but its hard to leave feedback just on that.

hehe, it's really not the meat I'm worried about.. it's always been the intro and outro and all that which kept me from releasing tracks

ps... gotta rest my ears tonight, check back tomorrow okay?

Crap guys, sorry about this -- I uploaded a 1-2 minute sample, on accident. Today I uploaded the real MP3, the 6 minute long one, the one that is more developed. Thanks, and sorry about the mix up. Same link, almostdone.mp3

So i really like the chord progressions. The pad is nice but takes over the bass a little to much especially in the start of the track. The track needs some lead or fx to keep me interested the length of it since its just some percs a bass and a pad.

the third chord of the main melody is dissonanting IMO, i didnt like it very much, with that awesome bass (add a little release to it it wont make that annoying little clip at the end of every note...) i expected much more power from the track, like a synth line, a main riff, something... not just chords... but its my opinion

Kick is nice and punchy. Percs sound crisp. The pad that comes in sounds a bit loud and overpowering to me but does have a nice texture.

I like the chord progression but up to this point, the track is lacking few extra elements, FX etc to keep me interested. Bass line is good once the pad is out the way. Maybe try lowering the volume for the pad and possible eq it more as well to let the bass come through a bit more.

Overall I found this okay. Has nice crisp clear highs. But for me, the arrangement needs spicing up a bit to keep me listening.

Overall, nice work though.

thanks for the feedback guys i'll keep it all in mind.

here's an update where you can hear some noticeable changes. it is however, still incomplete. hopefully give it a few more days.

http://lego.zianet.com/tilda140/almost-done-closer.mp3

basically just lowered the pad and tried to mix it down better.
Have had a couple people mention things about the harmonics of the chord progression (they dont like it).I like the major/minor sound it has.

I like this, especially what you did between the main parts. Nice change of rythm there It still need some fixes when the sidechain is turned off, sounds kinda rushed.
Melodies are great, really satisfying.

thanks man
I would be extremely grateful to the gods of EDM to finish this track... it would literally be a dream come true. Also I agree, I think there is something special about the melody.
