keep extending your court date as much as possible, by the time you have your final date set and the officer doesn't show up - your case will most likely be dismissed

has this ever worked for anyone in practice? i know cops get paid overtime just to show up to these things and i've never met one that wasn't willing to play along for extra income.

if you think you have a legal argument, your best bet is to file for a trial by declaration before making your plea in court. the cops aren't paid to write a retort so only the ones with good work ethic will even bother. often times your defense is better articulated on paper than if you were to stand before a judge at the podium after 20 other people fed him similar excuses. if your trial by declaration fails, you have a chance to then appeal the judgment in court. however if you go to court first, you forfeit your option of trial by declaration and are stuck with the ruling with no second chance.

Sure does.

I have been through this at least 3 times.

Each time it ran me 500 bucks, 250 for the first no show and 250 for the second no show.

I would then show up the third time, and the cop would never be there.

500 bucks was always a small price to pay, i was always on my final point before suspension for a year.

I've done it a few times. The odds are probably higher with city cops since they have other options of getting overtime and there are more exciting things going on than showing up to court over a traffic violation. I've never had to pay money for their no shows. If anything I just lose time and parking change over it.
