Friendly Fires - Jump In The Pool

Hey all

Even though I love Trance a great great deal, I do also love Indie music (and other styles too).

I heard a track last night on Zane Lowe's BBC Radio 1 show called "Jump In The Pool" by Friendly Fires, and oh my god......for me, it's the best song I've heard of 2008 thus far across all genres of music.

It's absolutely brilliant, so so fresh, so so different to the usual indie crap thats churned out, it's going to be a huge hit I think.

Friendly Fires are a hotly tipped band for 2008, and this song proves just that. What I like about the guys is that they a) grew up near me b) are really down to earth and c) they incorporate other genres of music into their tracks, one of the 3 guys loves dance music religiously.

Have a listen and let me know what you think.

(Admins - that link is for a radio recording of the track, hope thats okay.)

Friendly Fires debut album is out on September 1st.

By the way, is it just me that thinks this track is just asking for a trance remix? I think it would work really well!

All the best

Sim

I agree this will be popular, but I fail to see how it is different to any poppy rock song released in the past decade - it has guitars and singing with a pretty plain melody and doesn't seem to use elements from any other genres.

What the hell is a New Zealander doing on English radio? They are on our radio too, it's fucking weird, especially since radio is all about voice and they have such horrible ones.

Ummm, Trance has synths and doesn't normally uses elements from other genres? I don't really agree with that your saying as pretty much all rock/non edm songs use guitars, and to me this song sounds pretty different in the rock world I've heard.

It's not bad though. I wouldn't call it the greatest of 2008 though.
