att: Cor geeks (Router troubles)

So i'm getting my home office set up and i have a dlink 802.11g/2.4 ghz wireless router that needs setting up (no install disk anymore). The connection i'm using is one of those old school dsl ones that prompts for a username given by the provider and a password. No matter what i do i cannot get more than a local connection. Any ideas? My office chair is leather and i don't want to get cum on it when i jerk off.

thx.

well that might be a reason why not

Other than googling for some drivers for the device using the model number, and hoping I dunno. Is it showing as being installed on XP (right click, manage, device manager) or does it have a question mark over it? If it's installed and u have the firewall set to open some ports then it should work providing you have the correct username/pass. I know on my belkin i can get to 'home' by typing in 192.168.2.1 but i dunno about a dlink if that'd bring up a status screen for you once u get it installed

yeah ive tried google.

the problem is even if i connect my router by cable to my laptop i cannot get any connectivity. I have to be directly connected to the modem and enter the password info manually to get anything at all.

go buy a good router dude. Aside from that, I'm assuming u told your ISP u have a router, as they need to know what it is.

What's the DLink model number/name ? It should be DSL-XXX ... along those lines.

Username will probably be just 'admin' and the password blank. Get a better router though.

Have you tried connecting your router as you did before using cabling, then type in http://192.168.0.1 in your broswer URL bar?

Should then bring you to the password prompt. Username is normally 'admin' and the password is either 'password', 'admin' or blank.
