I'm starting to realize quite blindly that "DJ Robby Roxx" may be a big mistake and I need peoples thoughts.
I am NOT a DJ. I had a DJ friend a while back who tought me how to DJ, but I never played out before by myself and quite possibly would suck at it.
When I started producing I assumed if you make music (now 4 years later) that in a way you are a DJ because you can if you want to, but now I think its a bit dishonest, or maybe A LOT dishonest.
As someone who just produces, should that "DJ" part of my name just come out? I've thought about this before lol, but was so afraid to ask because it seems like something I should have realized or known well before the fact.
Thanks. -Roxx

Funny, I thought you were wondering about the Robby Roxx part, not the DJ part....

Same here.
And yes, if you never play out, have no real goal of doing so, and you want to be honest then you should take the "DJ" part out of your producer name. Kind of a no-brainer, isn't it?

DJ Sammy actually does DJ, though, and was a DJ before producing. He's just known for his cheesy productions more than his DJing.

DJ anything sounds corny and unprofessional. Even people who are actual DJs should not call themselves DJ.
... unless it's mikey mike.

Oh, and, to the OP, before you even consider it, think hard:
Not every producer can DJ.
Not every DJ can produce.
