Acid/Mushroom Jazz with House/Trance Drive?

2004, I was sitting in the back of a car, listening to a Mark Farina set that had very clear jazz phrasing. Pianos, vocal cuts, flute, sax, et al, were heard to be occupying a very clear dance-floor vibe, opposed to the chill-out/coffee shop fare on offer from most of the Om Records Mix Compilations I've heard.

I'm not looking for that set and couldn't name it if I wanted to but if there are sets that have what I'm looking, I'd love to know. What I am looking for are songs consisting of predominantly modal jazz phrasing with a consistent, dominant, and driving beat. I don't really even have a genre preference. Make it minimal. Make it maximal. While I have a preference for house and trance tempo, it could be breakbeat, drum & bass or dub-step (NOT wobble, bro - even with cuts you think sound like jazz). It has to be jazzy and fit in well enough at or near peak-time that you want to move to.

I'm trying to find an example of what I'm talking about and will edit the OP when I find one. Until then, I'll know it when I hear it.

Saw Mark Farina a few months ago, he was playing an extended set but I couldn't stay till the end.. but he was playing some thumping house with the jazz sampling and sounds, he was mixing on 3 decks all night.. wish I had the energy to stay till the end and hear some mushroom.

What a coincidence, ive recently been hunting for the organic house sound, cuz i miss it, and it goes well with fire and wine.

someone corrected me recently on a track as being "nu jazz", whatever the hell that is. just sounds like deep house to me:

i associate jazz with saxophone and flute more than any other instrument, is this what you meant? thumping dance floor friendly tracks that are composed mainly of musician instruments such as brass, strings, skins, etc?

heres another one:

"Roots" is my favorite of the two you posted but veers from its drive the moment that interminable sample referred to in its title starts interfering with the vibe - and the saxophone one-shot isn't helping matters, either.

As far as consistency goes, the one below starts a lot closer to what I'm trying to get at. While I appreciate the musicality in both (Kinky Movements, above, & Phat Daddy, below), at some point each begins introducing elemental phrasing while cutting instruments in ways that diverts from their drive. And I'll be the first to admit, I'm being absolutely picky.

Here's a couple of more snips with hints of what I'm really looking for.

Sofiane Belbachir - "Street Blues"

John Etkin-Bell / Nathan Pike - "Shaken, Stirred and Funky"

I'm liking this one for the as close as I've found anything that's emblematic of what I'm looking for, if not right on the money. And the one below isn't bad, either.

Both manage to preserve their drive and are distinctly jazzy. Thanks for the tip on Mr. Bukem.

To be fair Chicago is a nightmare place and I don't have a lot of money. So going anywhere or doing anything is always a hassle. There's never anywhere to park and traffic is pretty much ridiculous all of the time. Public transportation stops from that area JUST before bar time. And I'd rather not pay for a $20 cab ride home. Drinks are $7 + and a $15 cover? When all is said and done I'm like $120 poorer and my hearing is slightly worse. Fuck it. Also I woke up at 6 in the morning and was passed out by 10. I suck at partying these day.

I don't really blame you and, considering my meager financial position and even more remote location, am hardly one to judge.

No. Apart from hearing him recently in the Liquid DnB thread, I'm not as familiar with him as I'd like to be.
