There are a TON of awesome jam bands. The most ultimate being:
Grateful Dead
Reason: Jerry maaaaaan. Also the fact that there are mega shitloads of live recordings from festivals that I love to listen to.
Other mentions:
Umphrey's Mcgee
Phish
I'm sure someone will come in with Wilco as well.
you're spot on. nothing better than 10 different, 15 minute, live, improvised versions to your favorite one song... that was only 3 min. long on the studio album.
i could never get into Phish at all. Grateful Dead i can do 'tho. never listened to Umphrey's Mcgee, what are they like?
Wilco ?!? am i missing something? is the wilco i'm thinking of different than your wilco?
gotta throw Blues Traveler in the list as well. i'm a sucker for instrumentation. the more, the better.
