I've been kind of burnt out on dance music lately (been trying to produce some ambient and experimental non-dance stuff), which is why I haven't been reviewing or posting anything. I'll take a look at yours since you're from San Antonio.
Mixing and levels sound fine to me. I think it could do with a little more creativity in the arrangement, something to give it more of a distinctive touch. Right now it sounds professional but pretty standard. I'd suggest adding some synth sounds or maybe putting some effects on the vocals at different points in the track, and varying the percussion a bit more. |
Wow, such a shame. I wish I could have taken advantage of the forum sooner.
I feel the same way about the creativity aspect. I tried to mix up the drum patterns and even after that I feel like I should be adding double kicks here and there. I filtered out the lows and laid another layer of Trent's voice with a Beat Repeat added, thinking it would sound cool...but its drowned out and not really hearable. I need to let my ears breathe and try at it again.
Thanks again for the feedback. Hit me up if you're ever doing something cool in town.
