Brian Eno

I just realized I globetrotted, got married, climbed Mt. Everest and sat outside a small Andalucian cafe where everything was tinted a slight orange because of the warm sun.... all in 2 hours while listening to Deep Blue Day on repeat.

Wow. Emo, I know. But it's true. I feel like I've just had a 5 hr. massage and a bottle of vino.

Flame on.

I like closing my eyes when I listen to music and letting my mind wander to see what images it will make me think of. Ambient seems especially good for this because it's so smooth and continuous.

I'm having an Eno-day today.

Here Come The Warm Jets, Taking Tiger, No Pussyfooting, Another Green World, Cluster & Eno...

Perfect on a rainy day.

Nah, emo would be the realization that layovers are a bitch, your marriage makes you feel tied down and your wife is doing everyone but you, you get frostbite, and that orange tint is due to a nearby nuclear blast.

Nah, emo would actually be that you'd want to go but your parents hate you and won't let you.

I'm not real familiar with ambient, but I really like what I've heard from Brian Eno. Could anybody suggest some similar artists/songs?

personal picks (non-dark ambient)

vidna obmana ~ landscape in obscurity (+ most of his early works)
william basinski ~ silent night
r.modell & m.mantra ~ sonic continuum
milieu ~ beyond the sea lies the stars
basinski's garden of brokenness
shuttle358 ~ optimal
busso de la lune ~ around borderline
oöphoi ~ hymns to a silent sky
substrata
to a child dancing in the wind

and then of course saw ii and everything by aloof proof
