Its a known thing the LFO runs constantly, so matching it to your track isn't practical, anyone know any tricks to get round it? Im using the Phaser in particular, sync disabled.

Ok hadnt been using thor much lately noticed the key sync lfo...now just to incorporate it with my phaser. There must be a way, if anyone knows.

You can sync the phaser LFO...

Dude to make it go with music especially timing driven dance music hit the sync button and if you dont want a prominant up and down feel set sync to 16/4 and amount to 25 gentle phasing.

Ive done the sync but I dont think that will help. What I'm after is starting the LFO cycle at the same point everytime so that I can time the cycle to end at a certain point in my track, i.e. as the pitch reach's its peak before going back down. Because the lfo is always on in reason the cycle could be anywhere when you play your track.

That make sense?

The Thor has a key sync option which i noticed, maybe I could try and get a phaser effect from that?

I guess what I'm after is a key sync lfo for the phaser lol

dude when an LFO is synced it means it is locked to tempo set it to 1/4 and it will have completed a cycle every beat 4/4 every bar 16/4 every phrase.

Dude come on your asking how to make the LFO run with your tune and peak when you want it etc but this is how really it is. Stop thinking reasons LFO runs all the time etc. Each LFO in reason is different on each instrument and can be set differently too.

Sync but choose the sync that fits your idea!

I did give this a go last night, and it wasnt working, but it was late and I was getting tired, looking into it I'm thinking about it all wrong and wasn't changing the settings correctly. Thanks for the tips dude, I'll give it another go later today, re-post if all goes well or not.

I have another question. Once I sync the lfo get my rate at what sounds good for my track, when the note is played will it start at the same point in the cycle everytime? i.e. at the bottom cycle then peaking at the end?

and mentioned in just about every thor tutorial there is.

You can edit automation ofcourse if you want the rate at which the lfo goes to change at different times in the track. Or if you really hate automation or basically just have shitty timing then you can make another instance of thor with the same settings (except for the lfo setting which you obviously want changed) and have that instance of thor takeover from where you want the new lfo settings to be applied. Anyway I'm sure with some creative use of automation you can get the effect you want.

Low frequency oscillator oscilates over time might seem obvious but if you set it to oscillate over 4 beats say 4/4 then in the case of a sine wave LFO it will begin to go down on beat 1 be coming back upover beat 2 up to highest point beat 3 back to beginning by beat 4. So if you put a note on the second beat yes the LFO will always be at the same place in its oscillation cycle. However I suspect you mean restart the cycle on key press of note trigger. It wont do this unless your note starts on the first beat of the cycle anyway. I think you need to look at structure because this should not be a problem really. If i want a LFO to build a white noise sound up Iset it to 16/4 and start it 16 beats before the drop or wherever you are using it etc.

Is this a bit too technical? Its hard to explain

Basic version.

When synced an LFO will always be at the same place in its cycle wherever you have a note playing in relation to what the sync setting is. Man its hard to articulate myself today

Not too technical, I'll try this tips out when I get home. Thanks for the explainations Sonic_c and Darkarbiter. Ill do some experimenting later as you say sonic_c have the drop timed right for my track - change my structure. I've still got some doubts in my mind but ill jjst see what I come up with.

It sucks being at work and not been able to try stuff out. Will get my laptop sorted for work i think.
