I really can't understand people who, in this day and age, are still asking other people for recommendations (especially when the subject is house, which is not that obscure type of music). There's literally a ton of sources on the net related to subject and everything Nerfadec recommended (and more) could have been found with just a few hours research, plus you'd get that "I found it myself" feeling (and many more interesting informations along the way) which is priceless really.

That has been one of the most moronic statements I have read in this forum. Learning from others is pretty much the best thing you can get from an internet forum such as this one. Adam is a guy that takes his music seriously and it's evident to anyone who is familiar with him that he has spent countless hours digging on record stores, both physical and virtual.
I respect him a lot for that, and value his knowledge greatly. If anyone wants to learn about early electronic music, I'd say he's the man to go to around here. Are you saying that he should die with that knowledge?

haha, i think sljiva probably knows more about this stuff than me..
i think his point was basically that the OP might do himself good to search for this stuff the way sljiva and i do. Classics shouldn't just be classics because someone else said they are, but because they personally affect so many people time and time again, rendering them timeless and, well, classic.
I guess I'm not really a fan of recommendation threads in this sense either, because it takes the personal connection away from deejaying that you get when you dig deeply and respond intimately.
But just take this as starting point I guess!

If this thread had been about "trance music that sounds like Armin van Buuren?", would your response have been the same?
I'd be more inclined to help the person looking for cheesy trance, because it's obvious they don't know how to find what they're looking for. The person looking for old school house is more likely to have discovered other channels in my opinion.

It's apples and oranges, really. You make a good point on your second paragraph, but you cannot say that even when you do know those channels, it would be easier to find old-school house than to find Armin trance.
