Nay. Slightly similar in that they're a bit twinkly, but the melody is completely different.

They aren't the same! The Miracle piano is six notes, Papua New Guinea is only four. The first two, maybe three notes sound very similar, and it's possible that Oceanlab took those notes from Papua. Then again it's possible that it's coincidence. What is certain is that they didn't directly sample the piano and it isn't a carbon copy.
Papua is like G, Ab ,F , G (Cmin). Miracle is something like D, D, C#, C#, B, B (B min). Not the same at all.

Sounds slightly alike, however I doubt they had intentions of trying to copy it

Here's what Paavo said:
"Yeah, we loved this tune a lots. We tried to emulate it with a vocal feel."
Sounds pretty conclusive to moi!

Conclusive that they were influenced by Papua. He didn't say, "Yeah, we sampled the piano".

And as an emulation, this track is shit.
yah. PNG is way better. like, a million times better.
There should really be a thread for modern tracks that have elements which are just repackaged versions of older tracks.
That sound was a strong element of that track, it continued right through the breakdown. However, I don't give A&B any credit for it. As a result, as a track it gets way less points from me.
