I was gonna get the echo but I don't have FireWire on my computer...

buy a firewire to PCI card if you want firewire and dont have any, don't settle down on quality with audio interfaces...

Firewire is better for data exchange with high priority than USB . Adding a Firewire card would be the best way to go, if you have the budget for it, of course.

What are you looking for (inputs/outputs, 24bit/192khz perhaps, specific specifications)?

I agree with the above. A PCI to Firewire card will run you about $20.

For audio interfaces, which require low latency and accurate data exchange, Firewire is the way to go. For example, with the Apogee Mini-DAC, USB can only do 48khz/24bit. But if you use the Firewire interface, it can do up to 192khz. Manufacturers realize Firewire's superiority and put out their best external cards with a Firewire interface.
