Speaking of Hardcore, heard of DJ Paul Elstak? From the netherlands, one of the few surviving Hardcore DJs.
As for hardtrance, there's this collection of artists from the UK known as the Nu-Energy(not Nu-NRG) Collective, for example, Kevin Energy, K-Complex, Technikal, Arkitech, etc. Close as you get to true hard trance nowadays. K-complex did a cool remake of Barber's Adagio for Strings(take that, Tiesto), one of the tracks featured on the "Live At Frantic" album(2005, Resist Records). I may have mentioned this before in the "tracks that sound like other tracks" thread: Kevin Energy - Pounding Senses uses the hook from Brainchild - Symmetry/Ayla - Singularity Brainchild II. Not as good as the offical remix by Dave 202 & Dumonde(Singularity 2005)
