My very quick translation Fredericksburg - Ameriška policija je po poročanju Žurnal24 2. oktobra v zvezni državi Virginija aretirala tri slovenske športnike, ki so jih zamenjali za teroriste. American police arrested 3 Slovenian sportsmen in the state of Virginia after they mistook them for terrorists. Ultratriatlonec Matej Markovič, spremljevalec Žiga Novak ter maser ekipe Jaka Kolenc so prispeli v Ameriko v zgodnjih jutranjih urah. Po dolgem letu so se odpravili v Fredericksburg po hrano. Opazili so rumene šolske avtobuse, ki so jih poznali iz hollywoodskih filmov. Žiga je avtobus nekajkrat fotografiral skozi odprto okno, nakar jih je ustavil policist, ki je vozil za njimi. Policisti so jim pregledali dokumente in jih po 45 minutah izpustili. Matej Markovič (triathlon competitor), companion Žiga Novak and the team massager Jaka Kolenc arrived in america in the early hours of the morning. After the long flight, on their way to Fredericksburg to get some food they spotted the iconic yellow school buses known from the hollywood movies. Žiga took some pictures of one of the buses trough the pen window after which they were stopped by the policeman driving behind them. The police checked their documents and let them go after 45 minutes. Popoldan so se slovenski športniki vračali v narodni park Lake Ann, kjer jih je pri vhodu ustavil oborožen policist, s pištolo je meril vanje ter jih pozval, da naj se ne premikajo. Jaka Kolenc je za Žurnal24 povedal: "Ko so prišle okrepitve, so nas izvlekli iz avtomobila, nas vklenili na pokrovu avtomobilskega motorja in nas na kolenih pustili klečati sredi ceste. Nato smo še celo večnost čakali FBI. Nismo pa vedeli, da so vmes že evakuirali šolo in jo pregledali s psi za iskanje eksploziva." In the afternoon, when the Slovenian sportsmen were returning to the Lake Ann national park an armed police officer stopped them at the entrance, he was pointing his gun at them and commanded them to remain still. Jaka Kolenc said of the incident "When the backup arrived we were pulled out of the car, handcuffed on the car's hood and left to kneel in the middle of the road for ages while we waited for the FBi to arrive. What we didn't know then was that the nearby school had been evacuated and checked with dogs to seek out explosives." Policisti so kasneje ugotovili, da je šlo za napako. Kot vzrok za sume so jim dejali, da so iz "onih držav, Čečenije". V medijih pa so kasneje celo zapisali, da so bili Slovaki. Later, police officers figured out that they had made an error. As reason for their actions they claimed that the sportsmen were from "One of those countries, like Chechenya." The media later claimed that they were from Slovakia, which is a bit closer but still quite far of the mark.
