Urei 1603 - any opinions on this piece of equipment?
Does anyone have (or had) this mixer? Where is it manufactured? How is the sound and build quality? I'm particularly interested in the quality of the linear faders. Is it on par with e.g. Xone:62 or Nuo 4 (not taking the lack of FX into account)?
Any real experience reports would be really appreciated. Thanks!

I know Urei make's really quality club installation mixers. I doubt they'd tarnish their name with a lack-luster mixer. I'm sure it's epic, however, I've never used it.

This mixer cam out a couple of years ago (not more) and it was high on my list as I wanted a 4 channel good quality mixer with fx sends and returns. I demo's it and it felt solid, but didn't care much for the size of the knobs (again that's quite a personal subjective thing).
I remember someone having a problem with the headphone jack getting stuck in the recessed front part and a couple of other people had the the same issue too but this was minor.
Don't be fooled by the name. Urei is not the same brand as it was 20 years ago - the name got bought by soundcraft, so this is effectively a soundcraft mixer, but they're a good brand too and overall this is a great mixer.
If you're on to a good deal, snap it up, it's definitely a good peice of kit.

has anyone actually compared the sound of Urei 1603 and the hi-end DJ mixers like the Xones, Nuos and DJM800? I spin pure vinyl now and I wouldn't want my mixer to spoil the warmth of the analog sound with its numerous digital A\D

I've used it before and I really liked it. Definetly a solid mixer and worth the price. the soundquality is better than pioneer in my opinion but not as good as A&H.

I've heard some real horror stories about hard to find.. Such as buying records that are not in stock and being charged for them but they never send them, or beind raided by the police for selling illegal shit..
Very dodgy company - having said that the one and only time i bought something from them it arrived next day, it's just I hear a lot of bad reports about them..
