To good to be true?

I was looking at mixers on craiglist today when i found some guy in college selling a Allen and Heath Xone 92 mixer for $400. These things run for around $1800 brand new.
I have been wanting to upgrade my mixer for a while and this is an insane deal which makes me think if it is to good to be true. I have left the guy a message but he lives about an hour and half from where i live. I don't know if it is worth driving there to find out it is Bullshit or if it doesn't even work. Or maybe he just needs to get rid of it and he is for real. He says it is in perfect condition but thats what a lot of sellers say.

To good to be true?

Well if it's on craigslist, give him a call and go over and check it out. If it sucks or something, don't buy it!

There are a lot of really good deals on craigslist that end up being a scam. Many times they will tell you that they don't actually live where ever you do, but will mail it to you. Make sure you only deal locally.

Also, do a lot of research on the mixer. Make sure every single button works to your satisfaction, that all the filters work correctly, etc.

As the saying goes, "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is."

Doesn't hurt to check it out... you'll find out if it's shady very quickly.

Agree with above, shady if they tell you that they will mail it to you. But two weeks ago someone around my area (north of phoenix) had listed on craigslist two 1200's for 400 dollars. Thought it was to good to be true, but called immediately, and drove about 45 minutes, saw two great condition 1200's, and the guy threw in a five channel mixer for no extra cost. Said his wife was pregnant, and he hadn't used them in over a year. So sometimes people just need money, and you get great deals. Give it a shot.

I actually got a pair of Tech 1210's WITH road cases for less than $400. Good deals ftw!

Normally I'd be wary of these types of deals, but remember the current economic situation. Many people need cash fast, even if it means selling stuff at way below the going rate.

Good luck!

if you have the chance to test the item before buying it, give it a shot, it cant hurt.
