You should create some variations for your drums (make three or four fills to introduce the new patterns), melody, and bass.

For a first attempt at production, I gauge this as a rather commendable effort. You have no idea how poor a lot of my productions were to begin with on the mixing front. I'm also listening on some Creative PCspeakers at the moment so can't pick apart your sounds as much as I would have liked to on a proper set of monitors.

Your kick has some punch to it which is a good start. I'd try and add a little more punch or "oomph" by playing around with the mid-frequencies (2khz - 10kz range. This will allow your track to be pushed along it's journey, as opposed to plod along.

As a previous poster has stated, I'd use a few more percussion-oriented sounds to create some high frequency patterns. Patterns that don't need to be mind-blowing at this stage, but contain enough variation in them to keep the listener wanting more as the track develops. If your looking for some tips, try listening to some pre-created drum loops and try to ascertain what they comprise of. I wouldn't personally recommend using drum loops already created by someone else as you want to take the track in your own direction and not be careered into one particular direction because of the loops your using.

The sub/lower end bass sounds reasonable enough, but the over-riding mid-bass that you start with grains on you and becomes a bit of a headache. I'd change the sound you used for that altogether and perhaps add some variation through note change or note placement.

All in all a competent attempt first-timer

the drums are too boring and the song as a whole is far too simple and repetitive. i mean, it's essentially just a bassline and a kick. where's the melody? where's the lead? where's all the other percussion sounds?

none of the sounds are very good, particularly the synths and kick. i don't really know what you're trying to do, but whatever it is, it isn't very good. sorry mate.

New sample trying my hand at automation...Also got some new drums going, let me know what you think, if'n you please.

Again, nothing amazing here, but I want to get drums and the bassline acceptable enough to move on...Shouldn't build shit on shit, after all.

Made a stupid mistake; I had Reason Rewired into ProTools on two mono tracks, for stereo...But stereo doesn't work when your input tracks aren't panned. As such you'll now notice that there's a bit of stereo imagery going on as well.
