Pro producers that use FL studio

Hi Guy's

Im sure I read a post on here recently that mentioned a few pro producers that us FL studio, but I can't for the life of me find the post, even through the search feature on the site.

Anyway, do you guy's know of any pro producers that use FL, because I would like to look them up on the web for some inspiration as I use FL, and I would like to hear what pro's are doing with it.

Cheers

Steve

deadmau5 was or still is a Flstudio User (Think he may have switched though) Appears it for quick loops ect then into live for the mix.

Mike Oldfield was another one that used flstudio

http://www.flstudio.com/documents/mikeoldfield.html

Hard dance man Teknical also use flstudio but I hear he has since moved over to cubase.

It seems that most professional users of Fl studio use it for loops and drums ect and then the main mix down is performed in another sequencer. Don't that let put you off though as it's more than possible to create a professional track with this program.

It does have it's limitations and some internal plugings and synths are a joke however you need to assess if these issues ffrect you.

I love flstudio to bits but I've had enough of the mixer, no decent quad core support and most of all no pdc which they confirmed will not be fixed.

Just look for inspiration from your usual sources and try to re create it in flstudio. n

The FLstudio website has a load of artist comendations , but in all fairness , other than the equipment or software that you using, dont give away your sequencer.

FL seems to have a hardcore hate following across the internet in all genres , not just here.

As has said before , the inbuilt things are pretty much useless in a pro production.

But dont worry ,as much rubbish is created in cubase , sonar , logic or whatever than in FL.

just make the music , get it sounding good and i and most other people wont care how you sequenced it.

Not much more than what they could do in any other sequencer. A sequencer is a matter of personal opinion dude

some of the built in stuff in fl is pretty good actually. the love filter is awesome, as is delay bank... and i have many filters but i still use fruity free filter for most of my music.

the sequencer war rages on... but who cares?

Its all about the good VSTs in the end, and these can be used in pretty much any sequencer. What remains is performance, interface, workflow... and arguing about that is pointless because everyone has his own different opinion.
But no sequencer alone will make your sound quality better or worse.
Its really just a matter of taste, what you like or dislike.

btw, I just got to say it even though its offtopic, the IL Maximus included in FL is damn amazing!

As for artists, I can think of 2 'pros' right now using FL, namely Spor (DnB) and Electrypnose (Psy - though I am not sure if he still uses it)... and a lot of professional Psy producers use FL rewired into Cubase. FL gets a lot of hate really but I guess thats mostly for the gui design and the image of a "noob program".

hmmm breakfast Going to see him next week...
It really is all about the VSTs, but FL is missing PDC and multi core and a few other things. not really show stopping stuff if your just starting out and already have it/got a good deal...

FL is a more than capable DAW. I just do a lot of FL hating because I am an ex-FL user and got pissed off by the developers attitudes towards sidechaining, auto PDC, multicore support, etc. In my oppinion, those guys really are milking their user's low level of knowledge; by ignoring such critical features and developing flashy new (shit house) built in plugins to woo new users.

I tried FL Studio for a project a few weeks ago. It was pretty easy to jump into.

The latest version of the Virus TI software won't work with FL Studio 8. I think it works with 7. But even when it does work, it won't sync with the rest of the track. In general, FL's support for external instruments is quite poor.

As everyone said, the included plugins are quite nice. They certainly beat the shit out of what comes with Cubase SX 3. The automation is quite nice, too. And I liked how it handled WAV files (I'm sure I would have loved the fruity slicer if I needed it).

But regardless of what everyone says, what DAW you use *WILL* effect your sound. Not directly of course, but every decision you make while producing a track is dictated by your environment. But that will be different for each person... which is why picking the right software for YOU is what's important.
