I was Rohr'ified again last nite!!
Before opera house, I checked out the costume stuff on church st. that was quite the mayhem! Saw 2 guys that play on an HGTV show lol!
I tried to get to opera house early this time around (last yr I was the last one to get in at 1am ish).
Got in at 11:30, no line, quick search. that was nice.
An asian guy was playing when we got in and he was pretty good (Hali maybe?). I was really happy to see Platform fixing all the glitches from last yr (poor sound and too much lighting). The sound last night was top notch!! It was pretty loud during Jamie's set, then was brought down a bit, no need for plugs!
Jamie impressed once again. Dropper a much harder set than im used from him and loved it!Really brought up the pace for the headliners.
Delano's first half sort of lost me then out of nowhere started rippin us a new one and preparing for the onslaught from Rohr!
Rohr Rohr Rohr, he was the highlight of the night!!like last year's set, he really brought his A game and rocked the place.
Dietrich after was ok, he had lots of issues at one point..dont think it was his fault, but it was painful to hear. He recovered and ended with a pretty strong set!
Last nite was a good 9/10. Once again, Platform threw down a great party. Sucks the turnout was pretty small! I guess there were lots of other good parties last night....It gave us more space to rock it out!!
It was nice to see some faces I havent seen a long time. Some cool costumes too. Was nice meeting Veronica. You rock pretty hard I had ur gun all night w/o realizing it was urs lol!
Cant wait to see all the pics from last night!!

1. The TECHNO was perfect!
2. The volume was perfect! (I either left my ear plugs in my car or lost them again on the way down (FUCK if thats the case! :S)
3. Jamie, Delano and Rohr was esp INSANE!!!
4. This whole fucking night was EXACTLY what I wanted and needed and a PERFECT techno hallowe'en party! Really made up for the craptastic time I had at last year's event.
I feel bad for the probs Dietrich had... dont think it was his fault (but i have no idea). It was a total concern and an unfortunate buzzkill.
Furthermore, I think Rohr prolly should have went on last, not bc i didnt like his set time (in fact im glad he spun when he did and DIDNT go on last), but bc Dietrich, imo, just couldnt match what fucking rohr had done to us! His set felt wanting after Rohr's insane one!
Also, I LOVED the fact that it wasnt packed... as far as im concerned, it was the perfect amount of ppl. I had PLENT of room to fucking bust out the techno pounding dance moves... never once had an issue w/ space. This party was brilliant! There was enough ppl that the vibe never felt lacking to me and the personal space was amazing...... THANK YOU PLATFORM for an incredible, incredible, incredible night!! Ill remember this party for months to come... it'd been so bloody long since i danced and attneded a real techno party w/ hard techno beats (since WEMF w/ liberator and mark eg)... and i needed this beyond belief, esp after the unsatisfying time i had at carl cox at circa.
This party fucking blew that one out of hte bloody water (well, for me anyways.) cox didnt even come close, was on a whole different planet.
MAN, id go back RIGHT NOW if i could....... i NEED to dance to techno like that agin.
FUCK MINIMAL. LONG LIVE HARD TECHNO!

YOWZAAAAAA WHAT A NIGHT!!!
Jamie Kidd, wow, Alexi Delano, wow, Tony Rohr, WOW!!!!!
Amazing, HARD tehno night, just what the doctor ordered
The music was fantastic all night, except when Tony Rohr finished his set, the dude after really lost me...too many technical problems. Overall the vibe wasn't what it could have been and it wasn't that busy, but more room for us to rock it out!!!!
SUCCESSFULLY DESTROYED!!!
oh, and listening to Armin for a trance car afterparty FTW!!!!!

Could have been better, but I can't quite put my finger on the problem. Tunes were good, Rohr stole the show out of the 3; the others made me cringe sometimes.
There were a lot of musical inconsistencies that made it difficult for my ears to follow... Wasn't feeling myself towards the end.
I think it's the venue that I can't adjust to... but I made the most of it even though my hunger wasn't fulfilled.
Didn't bother checking out the afterparty unfortunately. |
Agree with all these points for sure! I had an alright time at the Opera House party but had a better time at the Basement! (Delano was spinning btw!)
The Opera House party was decent but there were a lot of problems:
- set times: 90 mins for Hali, 60 for jamie Kidd, 90 for Delano, 90 for Rohr, and 30 for Schoenmann?
- sound: was extremely loud at the beginning of the night, it was killing my ears, got turned down later on but was really inconsistent I felt, some times there was like no bass, other times it was fine. The 'acoustics' of that place just arent made for techno.
- Opera House: Aside from the sound, its too bright in there for me, plus I dont think the staff really like the EDM crowd it seemed. I really just wasnt feeling the vibe there for some reason.
- Small crowd. More and more people kept showing up as the night went on but I expected it to be waaaay more full than that.
- Rohr was my favorite set. A lot of people were saying they really liked Delano but maybe I was just in a bad mood during his set or something.
Bassment:
- Really nice place! like the zone, except done right! Totally chilled out friendly crowd, Acoustics/sound were soooooo good after having to deal with the Opera House sound
-Terrance Kissinger started out pretty chilled out but definitely picked it up pretty quickly! Then who do I see standing beside him but Alexi Delano! They seemed to be going track for track for a while, some great tunes were played! Jamie Kidd and Hali then came on, and I think Delano was still behind there with them throwing on the odd track.
Overall: Good night, didnt like the vibe in the Opera House that much but I still had a decent time. Was more impressed with the afterparty at the Basement, which I play on attending more regularly! It was really clean and nice in there! plus everyone was really chilled out, as opposed to the zone! But it still had that dark basement, low ceiling, feel!
