US author Michael Crichton, the writer of bestselling books such as Jurassic Park has died of cancer aged 66. Crichton, a medical doctor turned novelist, sold more than 150 million books worldwide. More than a dozen of his novels have been made into films. In 1996 he won an Emmy for the TV series "ER."
What a shame...

I thought Sphere was just amazing, and thought Jurassic Park was meh. Sphere was much deeper, and philosophical. Did you mean the books or the movies, because I am talking about the books.
Did anybody else notice that mathematicians were always very highly regarded in his books?

I'm the saddest about ER. Ive been watching from the pilot and don't want to see it go...

ER is sick, agreed. A lot of things about ER I fucking loved, but I really felt like the last two seasons were absolute GARBAGE!! hah In an attempt to "romance" the show (a la Grey's Anatomy) they turned it into shit...

I enjoyed Sphere. Andromeda Strain was probably my favourite though. His attention to detail and the research that went into his writing were incredible.
