well not soulseek lol

i mean the issue is - if someone takes the time to make a unique bootleg for his sets, and then that boot gets passed around without that person knowing, it might be considered a low blow, esp. if that boot may see release in the future

In my eyes if you have it, you should be able to modify it and tweak it in whatever way you want.

If you have something exclusive that you want to stay exclusive, you should be pretty careful who you send it to.

I'm not condoning piracy, but once something has entered the giant data pool, you gotta do what you gotta do.

And while I know copyright issues are much more hardcore in the states, if you are really transforming a work... it should be fair game IMO

i guess more than copyright i am more concerned with 'credibility' or 'integrity' , as far as your peers go.

anyone else have thoughts?

My thing is usually, if I can't get it through the correct means, I won't play it.

Theres plenty of music out there so that this hasn't been too much of an issue for me.

Looking away from the copyright infringement aspect... Sure I would play it. If this person has made it and given it to someone then surely they would expect people to play it?

If I make a remix or re-edit I am happy with and want to be unique I don't give it to anyone else until such a time that the track is done and dusted.

If someone gives me something I will play it if I like it. That said, if they asked me not to play it then I would respect their wishes.

Cheers
Nem

i would also say that considering the amount of money i know you invest into music (directed at nefardec),it distances you from the people many would consider as the cancer of the music industry. It does not make you free of the piracy label, but it certainly is much easier to swallow from my view point because you are one of those who supports the artists that make it all possible...something that is not as common as it should be

the quicker you realize that clovis does not really play minimal, the quicker you will stop failing so hard.

i said nothing about what he plays, as ive only listened to a few of his sets i realy dont know. i just said its easier finding tracks to fill up a minimal set legaly, than with tracks with vocals and outstanding samples and shit.
