But if you want to solve your problems, it's not going to take 1 show. phil doesn't even investigate teh past of his guests in much depth. he uses the "change your mindset NOW, it's on YOU" technique of psychology or whatever, when maybe their past is the reason they are what they are.

How is a change now and it's on you any different than a psychologist or psychiatrist? They still put it on you to start and enact the change now. The past is no excuse to continue bad behavior. Just a reason why it happened.

On the profit aspect, you could say that psychologists and psychiatrists are doing it for profit also. Although I do fully understand that they have gone through an accredited program at a university for this stuff to understand fully (at least at the time of instruction) the human psyche.
