Hello again! Long time since I posted a mix. I plan on doing monthly mixes again but now with my cohort Lucas K, his mix for the month will be up very shortly.
Here is the first mix for my new site, Silent Sonance. What I wanted to have for a theme on this one was a moodier vibe with sort of an impending storm atmosphere. Or a storm in the distance headed your way. Heh, well I think it was due to the crazy crappy weather we were having for a while. Hailing, windy rain, dark and bleak. But that's the Pacific North West for you. The Beauty of Silence mix is outstanding and proved to be a great opening track that provided a broad and thematic introduction. The next track is just absurdly great, the original done by one of my all time favorite producers Kosmas Epsilon and the excellent remix done by one of my new favorites, Eelke Kleijn. Moonbeam is also a new name to me and has demonstrated incredible skills, and sky dub is a track that humble at first builds to an incredible crescendo that is exactly the type of vibe I was looking for. That is probably my second favorite track in the set, next to the next track, Defibrillator by Soliquid. I'm absolutely in love with this track and it only grows stronger with each listen. After that is Electric Sheep which gets the mix moving a bit faster and more energetic an amazing track by the Signalrunners who otherwise I haven't been a huge fan of. Speaking of surprising entries is This is That by Gareth Emery. He also never caught much of my attention until now. This track is just sick; and yes it has a lot of similarities with previous tracks but it is just done so well and the break beat style breakdown is superb! Personally I listen to EDM because it is constantly progressing; production methods get more advanced, technology grows and sounds refine. While there are trends and shifts of the hot new style, overall I believe that EDM is a constantly evolving on it's own roots and when a producers borrow and improve on previous sounds then that's what it's all about. What are remixes if not exactly that. I better stop now or I will have a freaking novel here.
Hope you enjoy the mix. Comments and criticisms are always welcome.
