Big Ears New Trancer - Celeste

Hey everyone,

After getting a lot of positive and helpful feedback from my first posting to the site with the track 'Undecided' I am coming back to post my follow up track - Celeste. This is not a vocal track like the other, more progressive and melodies... I am really happy with it and I have used all the feedback from previous posts to try and fix things ahead of time. Any level & eq feedback is great.

Please let me know what you guys think. I am also looking to pitch to some labels with this tune, once it is completely completed!

Let me know what you think!

Hey mate, you got quite a nice track down here.
There is not much feedback I can offer on terms of EQuing, but I do have a say in something else.

The breakdown is lovely, and the synth-guitars you introduced there should definitely be the main leads from there and on.
Also, instead of building down, build up to the climax, you had a nice energy going on in the breakdown and then you tuned down the mood, I think you should change the arrangement by continuing the energy that you had been building up in the break.

Anyways in this climax you introduce the chords at a level of volume equal to the guitars, so I thought that they were the main melodies instead of those guitars that you (later on in the climax) faded in again.

So my suggestion is to change your arrangement.

Put the main part that is found at the minute (6:27) right after the breakdown (3:35) for 1:30 seconds. Cut the section from 4:05 to 5:02 minute and put it right after that, then again the main section with the guitars and chords, but instead on 1:30 mnutes, just 1 minute and then the outtro.

I don't know if is gonna result in a longer or shorter version, but definitely it would sound sweeter and full of flow.

If you didn't get what I'm trying to explain here, please say so, or PM me.

Cheers

Hey PDM, thank you so much for this very detailed feedback.

I understand your instructions. I wasnt getting what you meant by guitars at first, as I havent used anything that in my mind was guitarish; its all electric piano ish based... anyways thats not the point of your post.

I have a pretty clear idea of what to do and I will try out your suggestions. You are right that I have been building it down for the piano theme. I guess I was treating the track as part 1 to part 2 to part 1. not so much as the piano being the lead/climax. but I will try what you are suggesting.

"Anyways in this climax you introduce the chords at a level of volume equal to the guitars, so I thought that they were the main melodies instead of those guitars that you (later on in the climax) faded in again."

The chords you speak of above is the theme that starts at 4.05? and the guitar parts are at 6.27?

I guess i really like the part that starts at 5.02 to about 6.00m it really opens it up so much, and figured that if i built up to the other piano (guitar) theme I wouldnt have the time to really build theme 2...

I will try your suggestions. Maybe it will flow better that way!

(Could it be too many ideas for one track...?)

Will keep you posted man, thanks so much for the input!

Too many ideas? perhaps, I used to do that mistake, when a track seemed to be made of 4 tracks haha.

"The chords you speak of above is the theme that starts at 4.05? and the guitar parts are at 6.27?"

Yeap, that is correct.

Glad I could help, if you wish to send me the final demo write me at

Cheers

Hey Paolo,

Made some quick changes following your comments; its difficult for me to make a judgement call here as I am used to the other flow. btw This was a quick and dirty; didnt pay attention to the details.

I left more bars in there than you suggested for part/theme 2, but that was to taste... Let me know what you think about the flow now...

Also, anyone else that wants to contribute - all ears!

This is a good track , keep it up .

Nothing much i dont like about this track , but i just dont like the snare rolls at 5:56 ~ 6:00.

But well , i guess thats just my opinion.

Yes, yes, yes! Now all you have to do is to take care of the details you feel need to be taken care of. Add a proper Dj friendly intro and outtro, master it, and it is ready to be sent to any label you want.

Cheerios.

Processing a highly structured and complex pattern of sensory input as a unified percept of "music" is probably one of the most elaborate features of the human brain.....understanding how music is perceived and how it may elicit intense sensations is far from being understood.

Here it is.

I think I am done with Celeste... I cleaned out the kick and bass relationship a little bit. Sounds pretty clean in the low end on both sets of headphones and speakers. Mastering can fix the overall balance of the mix... I think I will be sending this to a couple of labels in the upcoming week. Comments from anyone always appreciated!

Also, of course there are plenty of mix-in / mix-out measures on the copy I will be sending out, no point in having those included for auditioning here...

Cheers,
