2005 was the year of his debut 12” “Afasia”, with the release of his first singles, which were charted by Djs such as Troy Pierce, Falko Brocksieper, Jeremy Caulfield and Steve Bug. Since then, he has been touring Europe, playing cities such as Madrid, Moscow, and Rome, while simultaneously refining his studio and his live show performance ceaselessly. His signature sound defies genre categorization and places his productions a step above the sometimes excessive monotony of certain minimal techno.
One of San Francisco's biggest up-and-coming artists, Antiserum lays down thick beats, crushing basslines, and some of best dark/techy dubstep in SF. Known worldwide for some of SF's biggest releases, he has released music on Narco.Hz, Argon, Mode, Cyberfunk, Hollow Point, Full Melt, and is currently remixing a brand new DZ track for Blipswitch Digital, to be released in Spring 09.
His long and highly respected career has seen thirty 12" and nineteen full album releases on many of the world's top labels, ranging from his early experimental and industrial works to the deep, dark, and funky dancefloor grooves he's known for today. After a stand-out performance at last year's Decibel Festival and his previous crushing performance at KONTROL, welcome back one of Sweden's most important techno ambassadors.
One of San Francisco's true musical treasures, Kush Arora has cultivated a unique sound featuring an assortment of dancehall, dubstep, indian, and grime influences. His live performances have been known to light dancefloors on fire while maintaining a clear presentation of musical sophistication. A member of Surya Dub and Record Label Records, Kush has shared the stage with people from Thievery Corporation to Bassnectar, Flying Lotus, Sub Swara, Headhunter, Mochipet, and regularly performs with heavy-hitting MCs like Juakali and MC Zulu. Watch for his crushing remix of J. Rogers & Rozanski's "Morocco" on Blipswitch Digital, February 09.
Patrick Campbell’s reputation as a veteran audio engineer, producer and composer spanning the last 15 years rivals the upper echalons of the world’s audio elite. His music explores a depth atypical of current club tracks or trends with a heavy focus on creating thoughtful, conceptual and truly artistic pieces of electronic music not only suited for the dancefloor but also serving as a daily soundtrack for life. As owner of Vellum Recordings, the label serves as his greatest obsession, focusing on bringing his pragmatic vision of house and techno to you, the audience, and presenting us all with fresh, inventive, insightful manifestations of electronic dance music.
Minneapolis native Matt Arnold was snapped up early-on by cult electronica label Toytronic. He has tickled our earlobes ever since with pieces touching on IDM, ambient, trip hop, breaks, drum n bass, and dub. A skilled perfomer, Mr. Projectile easily brings his advanced sound to the stage, incorporating an all-hardware setup. His enlightening presentations have delighted audiences for some time with dazzling displays of innovative music and advanced mucisianship.
A Detroit native whose move to Berlin was ahead of its time, for the last four years Shaun Reeves has been enthralling European audiences with his own highly distinctive mixture of American house, both classic and contemporary, and the deepest, most cutting edge aspects of minimal techno and tech-house. In addition to playing in Berlin's celebrated Panorama Bar, Watergate, Arena Club, and the legendary Beatstreet loft parties, he has appeared in Robert Johnson (Frankfurt), T-Bar (London), Wolf + Lamb (NYC), Bunker (NYC), End Up (San Francisco), Cocoliche (Buenos Aires), La Sala (Bogota), Harry Klein (Munich), and many other clubs and parties in Europe, North and South America.
He's been called "San Francisco's very own tidal wave of techno", and for good reason. Not only is Alland a resident, graphic designer and A&R for what is arguably the States’ most respected and notorious techno night, [KONTROL], he is also booked regularly alongside talents such as Superpitcher, Trentemoller, Swayzak, Miss Kittin, Modeselektor, Claude VonStroke, Jeff Samuel, Heartthrob, Ambivalent and many others. Alland has quickly grown to be one of the most in-demand Techno talents that SF has to offer, and after performing live at Seattle‘s Decibel Festival and DJing at Lovefest SF this year, it’s obvious that 2008 promises to be a huge year for both Alland and his label, Nightlight Music.
Kenneth Scott makes small-scale techno with large sonic concerns. Recording under his Eutactic moniker with Auralism label head Jason Short and under his own name for friend Alland Byallo's Nightlight Music, Scott takes cues from early Warp records, Matthew Dear's acid experimentation as Audion, and minimal-minded composers like Philip Glass and Arvo Part. The results eye the "minimal" label with suspicion, combining techy snares, reptilian synths, and subtle layers of melody into something melodic, funky, and emotional -- uncategorizable and catchy as hell, just how Scott likes it. Scott's been honing his craft for years, running San Francisco's successful Binary party, DJing with Pan Pot, Lee Curtiss, and Argenis Brito, as well as creating music alongside collaborators Jason Short, Alland Byallo, and Emilio Orlandi. Now he's ready to open the floodgates. "I want to create dance-floor friendly, funky, jacking, sonically dexterous, soulful music," he says. "I want to make a crowd tear up, as well as pump their fists."
Qzen's sets delve deep into the forefront of future music, allowing crowd reaction to direct — but not dictate — her selection. In her eight years of experience, Qzen's skills as a DJ have taken her to Canada and Mexico, as well as numerous cities in the US. In the early '00s, she expanded her sound from her drum & bass roots to include tech-house, electro, and techno, dub, dubstep, breaks, and more. She has released music on Palette Music, Permanent Vacation, and 40 Thieves.
