It's been asked a billion times, but.. carts

long story slightly shortened- borrowed my carts to an "acquaintance" that used to book me every week, bookings stopped, never got carts back. called on numerous occasions, no answer. looking for new ones.

what are you guys using nowadays? willing to drop around $150, and i'd like them for the purposes of mixing and ripping vinyl, no scratching.

much appreciated

For me, the best are ortofon nightclub e. Sound simply amazing, track well with not much pressure(good for yer vinyl) and have taken a kicking while still going strong.

Ortofon's are NICE, but you're not gonna get a new pair for $150. For your budget, I recommend the Shure M447. They SICK!!!!

True, but you can get a twin pack of the ortofon pro s. Then when the stylus is finally worn out, buy the nightclub e stylus. The bodies are identical in every way!!!

Then you need to have an ear exam

Seriously though, I had Stantons, and sure's and neither of them came close to ortofons. The trackmasters are good but tear the shit out of your records.

Ortofon's are awesome. The problem with Ortofon's is that if the grip/handle brakes, you have to buy a whole new cartridge to replace it. That's another $100+. And trust me, they brake easy!!! I've seen them brake off in the middle of DJ Sets. Not good. With the Shure's, they're headshell mounted. Which means, if the headshell breaks, you just replace the headshell. That only costs about $20.

Here's my personal choice in order...

1.- Ortofon DigiTrack... These are by far the best needles for any DVS system such as Serato!

2.- Shure TT-M47... There's a reason why these needles are pretty much the industry standard. They don't skip, they sound good, and are affordble.

3.- Ortofon Club Series.... These are the black ones with the yellow tip. They're workhorses. I owned a pair back in the hay day and they kick ass.

^^ I have a pair of Shure Whitelabels as well. Great carts, replaceable needles. Expensive (200$ for a pair?), but worth it. Great for 45s, old records, whatever.

Not made for scratching.

grado dj200i if you care about sound quality. not for scratching though as they don't really track that well.

In my turntables parts box I have few different types to play with. Because I can't make up mind what one to use half the time.

Shure TT-M47
OrtofonPro
Ortofon Concorde nightclub MKII
Ortofon Concorde Nightclub E MKII
Ortofon Concorde NightClub S
Ortofon DigiTrack

But usually end up using Concorde Nightclub E MKII most of the time.

Next ones I going try out soon is Ortofon Concorde Elektro and Ortofon Concorde DJ S and Ortofon Concorde DJ E when I get em by UPS next week. Used my government stimulus check to get em Currently have 3 Ortofon Cartridge Cases and one case felt lonely with none in there so thats why going get 3 above to fill it up and test em out.
