Re: Mixers - Numark X9, Vestax PMC-280, others

I'm in the market for a new mixer as I have finally resolved to replace my shitty shitty gemini mixer. I mostly want it for home mixing and recording, and occasionally lugging to a party or clubnight somewhere. I really want something with a decent sound; I don't want to hear any artifacts or distortion in my recordings. However, I probably won't be hooking it up to massive club systems. It'd also be nice to have some effects, or at least low/high-pass filters which I use quite a bit (my current cheap-ass CDJs have these, but at some point I'll upgrade them too).
Anybody know anything about the Numark X6 or X9? Apparently they're new mixers, but they just look like the DXM06 and DXM09 with cosmetic adjustments to me. Are they any good? I've played around on a DXM06 and it seemed pretty good.
What about a Vestax PMC-280? It seems to have just about everything I want. Is this any good?
Of course I could spend 3 times as much on a better mixer and an external effects processor; I'm not convinced that I want to do this, though.
Behringer DJX700 has all the features I want and is cheap as fuck, but some people seem to think that it's a POS. Is this the consensus?
Or should I just get a Xone 32 with its stupid gain controls on the back? |
No DJX 700. That is a POS for sure. If anything, their new mixer (DDM-4000) is supposed to be much improved, but it hasn't been out long enough to see how it holds up.

PMC280 hands down winner. Better value than the nuo4 and just slightly better sound quality. Built like a tank, good layout too and plenty of connections.
