for those that use logic 8

do you know how to map your midi keyboard to say - a high pass filter, so that when you turn those nobs and ride those faders, the parameters change?

If so. Please

Teach me

Nice, didnīt know about that myself!
Farris, is there a way of automating inserts on aux buses?
Iīve tried to find an answer on the net, and in the manual - but no luck yet.

once you select the touch or latch automation mode on that bus channel, it will appear in the arrangement, put the mode back to read and you can draw your automation lanes.

if it doesn't work: go to the mixer environment, select all busses, and check the "icon" box in the inspector, so the icon appears. Go back to arrangement, select a blank track, and change its properties, select mixer=> aux/bus whatever. There you go.

As Lolo said....or go to the Mixer > right-click the desired Aux bus > select 'Create/Select Arrange Track' (top first option) > go back to arrangement and you'll see there is a new track for the Aux bus. Hit A on your keyboard and it'll show all automation lanes. From there pick the parameter you want to abuse.

mmmmh, I'd go for Ableton's automation though as the best one I've seen.

It's too hard drawing steps in logic. If I could have step automation I'd be reaaaally happy.

The automation in Ableton is good but would love snap to grid and bezier curves. The last one is something Logic does have in a minimal kind of way with the smooth curves.

Care to elaborate a bit more on the step automation part? Don't think Ableton has that or does it? And what exactly do you find hard when drawing in automation in Logic?

Automation in Fl studio is fantastic. I guess everyone thinks that whatever they are using has the best automation.

+1

I love the automation in Ableton, and I miss that ease of use in Logic.

Ableton does snap automation to grid actually (as long as you have "snap to grid" turned on) and it works much better for me than in Logic, where it seems near impossible to do the kind of step automation as in Ableton. Logic is often too complicated with it at moments that I just want to do something really simple, or maybe I'm just missing some simple tricks.

Curves is probably the only thing Ableton is missing with automation. I hope they add it in the next version.
