One of those labels (like Warp and FAX) that defined the 90's for me. My favourite releases were: Slam - Positive Education, Desert Storm - Desert Storm, Funk D'Void - Jack Me Off, Silicone Soul - Right On (of course) and many many more. That was the good old tech house... Today, they are releasing some generic minimized tech/deep house, and without The Black Dog, they would be completely irrelevant. |
Alex Smoke - "Incommunicado" and the latest Slam album were great imo.

Granted over the last 12-18 months the label has had a hit and miss release schedule. I would say they are aiming to change that though.
Watch out for the Joris Voorn and Prompt mixes of Slam's Ghost Song which comes out in February, with Black Dog mixes of Azure to follow in the spring.
There's a new offshoot (Somabeta) which launches at the end of this month, new artist albums from Silicone Soul and Black Dog in the works (the latter comes out in April)
Plus Darkroom Dubs has lots of new releases to come from Compuphonic, Freska, Jet Project amongst others, in additional to a new vinyl series 'Sounds Of Glasgow', the first EP of which features a new track from Sei A.
