My very first serious attempt at trance

This is my first serious attempt at making trance music. First of all, I want to say sorry for such heavy kick. I never realized how heavy it sounded while I was making it. I'm going to tone down the drums and then re-export it (using garageband) but I made it at school so it won't be until tomorrow.

Here it is. I don't have a name for it. I suck at thinking of names.

I want serious criticism please. Remember, this is the very first time I've actually attempted this. This took about 4 1/2 hours spread over about 5 days.

Yep your right its a heavy kick, Sounds like you got an inspiration from 90's eurodance.

Anthem wise , not bad , but production wise , like percs , fx and things like that obviously you need to work on.
Keep at it , youll get better

Uploaded a new version with a weaker kick (sounds rather nice imho) and a slightly smoother ending. Also I uploaded a .wma this time, not .mp3 so it might sound unrecognizably better. And yes, I know about the timings. I would fix them but.. I'm too lazy to go back. Eventually I'll do it because certain parts are pretty out of wack.

Sounds good!

The drums sound weak as a whole. The kick is present, but for large sections at a time, it's the only drum. The other drum elements need much more presence.
I would change the repetitive triplets in your lead to maybe play just full quarter notes or something else during certain loops of it.

The track as whole just doesn't sound like it's going anywhere, no breath taking build-up or epic ambient bridge, but as this is your first attempt it's pretty good.

Keep it up!

You need to add some bass. Some notes arent on time. Deffinetly needs more elements in there. Very dry sounding. Keep it up! It takes a while to master these things. Great first attempt tho! -Keith

youve got good ideas to work with as a whole, all you need is a bit more melodic progression. try experimenting with high quality sounds. keep that riff there and add some more complicated looking riffs. youll see patterns in how to do it. if it looks likes 'looks good' (theoretically because music is 100% math) digitally itll sound good. you have to learn your notes well, and know the patterns behind their structure. try taking a music theory class at your local community college and see if it wont have dramatic effects. keep at it.

The third edit of the song is done and I've uploaded it to myspace. For some reason it hasn't shown up yet but I'm giving it sometime since this time the song is 7 minutes long. I think it's gotten kind of boring at parts but that's probably from hearing them so many times. This time I completely removed the parts where the timing of the notes sounded weird and replaced it with something a lot more pleasing imho. I added a new thing to the middle of the song, and repeated the main verse for the end. I feel for some reason that the volume levels are off a bit (beginning is normal, middle gets quiet, end is normal again) but otherwise I think I like it.

EDIT:

It's up and SHOULD be playing. (it's not quite playing just yet. it might just be me though.)
