Killzone 2 Super Bowl trailer
If I'm not mistaken, Killzone 2 is the first video game to ever be advertised during the Super Bowl. Pretty epic stuff, and a good move by Sony. Since analysts are expecting in the ballpark of 150 million viewers worldwide, what better way to get word out that a new game is hitting store shelves than to advertise during the biggest television event of the year.
Some of the lines may seem cheesy, but I think that was the whole point...to give the whole ad a comedic effect since we all know Super Bowl commercials are supposed to be funny. I enjoyed it. Perhaps not the best game commercial ever made, but it gets the point across that the gameplay is mindless FPS mayhem, which is exactly the audience Sony is targeting.

Eh, I don't know. I feel they could've done something much better considering the ridiculous amount of cash they had to shell out just to air this thing. Watching this trailer doesn't really make me want to play the game.

I think that's because we are gamers, and we like to look at game's from a gamer's perspective. This commercial was made from a football fan's...not to say that is a thing that should be prioritized, but it makes sense considering the event in which this commercial will be aired.

They are already losing money as it is, and considering the economy's current state, I don't think losing more is on Sony's current agenda.
Now...this is the part where somebody will say 'well, if they lower the price of PS3, more people will buy it, and more people will buy more games, and this will create a greater revenue.'
I've been saying that all along, but apparently the whole situation is a little more complicated that that.
