Seriously.

If you pay a certain amount towards repairs to pass the e-test you get an automatic pass.

Problem is I don't have the 600 (or whatever the amount is) to pay for the "repairs". I have vet bills to pay cuz my idiot horse cut up his leg, supplements, training and possibly trailering for x-rays. The car itself is in fairly good condition, just the previous owner put a resonator on it and did some crap with the engine. Somewhere down the line it'll eventually be tuned and a proper muffler will be put on, but until everything is taken care of (horse & school stuff) it has to wait. Therefore fake one is the only option at this moment.

you don't have to spend money to get a conditional pass... you only have to pay for e-tests and diagnostics
A resonator shouldn't affect the emissions readings

What kind of car is it?

Or, just fix the horse and ride it

Brilliant. You do know that an e-test has nothing whatsoever to do with CO2, right?

Emissions testing is intended to prevent toxic or hazardous emissions. That includes:
- Hydrocarbons (HC, - incomplete combustion products)
- Nitrogen Oxides (NOx)
- Carbon Monoxide (CO - that's the one that will kill you if you leave your car running in the garage for 3 hours).

Drive Clean doesn't even regulate CO2 emissions. But I'm sure you already knew that, and were just making a joke, right?

Technically, since the main component in emissions control is the catalytic converter which converts a lot of those other bad things into harmless CO2, passing an emissions test would actually be increasing one's "carbon footprint."

Thanks Diginut. You are always great at making people feel like an idiot.

Regardless having a clean car = clean air and that was my main point

Or maybe I'm wrong on that too

My interpretation of what you said was that if you're having car trouble, then you should drive less (or take public transportation), thus reducing your carbon footprint.

Clearly I read WAY too into your post! lol
