New Track, Uncertain of Genre ???

New track I have just finished. Not sure what style this would fall under. Kinda progressive something... Have a listen!.

The track is basically trance with an "electro" sounding bassline I think. From a composition standpoint you have a decent track here, and the synth sounds are pretty nice. But...

You have absolutely squashed the hell out of the track. The clipping / distortion is audible from the very beginning and only gets worse as you add more elements. So my advice is either to just turn off all of your compressors, or to learn to use them properly so that you're not clipping the track for 10+ samples every time the kick hits.

Thanks for the tips. Im pretty horrible when it comes to mastering and such. I dont actually have many compressors within the track just a sidechain and one or two on separate tracks. I'll definately try and clean that up a bit though.

Hmm, it honestly sounds like you just slapped a compressor on the master bus, but if you aren't compressing it very much, then it must be an issue with your mixing levels. IMO it would sound significantly better if you mixed this more carefully.

ALright, as of now there is only the sidechain compressor on the pads in the breakdown. There was one other compressor in the mix not doing anything so i took that out, but like i said im not very good at the mastering/mixing so i'll have to work on that.
