My feedback regardin Torq.

So after a year and a half of using Torq I finally know what to think of it.

Short version: Save your money and get something else.

Before let me give you my specification:
2CDJ 800mks and tested on three different laptops
Version
1.07 and in the last few weeks 1.5

At first Torq was fun, everything was working as supposed to but over the months quality of the sound deteriorated dramatically. I went to torq dj forum for an advice but there is no answer for my problem. It is not the problem with the conectiv box but the program itself.
How do I know? I connected conectiv to Traktor scratch pro and ran Traktor Scratch Pro thru conectiv and the differennce was from like a night to a day when it comes to sound quality. The same thing happened when I spin regular CDS.
Torq really makes the music quality worse.
Another problem that have developed over the months, DRIFTING. Torq has started drifiting so much that it is almost impossible to use it.
Again there is no solution for this problem(yes, i did all the recommended steps on Torq DJ forum...)
Recently I started using Traktor Scratch Pro, and what a difference...
I dont have to deal with anything, everything works as supposed to. Quality of the sound is awesome, even thru another sound card(even thru conectiv) and the best part I dont have to go thrgh some .prefs file to try to fix a program on my own
On the long run, I woulnd recommend Torq, even though it is much cheaper then Traktor it is not worth it on the long run. Currently im saving to get my own traktor scratch.

wait- so you can use traktor scratch through the connectiv interface? what about serato?

if that's the case i'd buy connectiv and get a pirated version of traktor or something and get the best of both worlds- cheapness and quality

thats what i did to test it out on connectiv, the problem is that Traktor will kill sound randomly(Some kind of protection).
It does not happen when you have Audio 8DJ interface connected to legit Traktor

btw. I just purchased Traktor Scratch, they hooked me up in Guitar Center (paid $450, tax included

So are you saying the software is programmed to worsen the quality of one and a half years?

The program can't possibly get worse. It could be the vinyl, the needle or any number of things, but it can't be the program.

Actually it can be the software. I've never owned Torq, but I have owned both Serato and Traktor Scratch, and the software handles worn turntables, carts, rca cords, etc much better in Traktor than Serato, but I haven't used Serato in years, so maybe it is better now.

It's weird. I've had Torq for about a year now and experience the same problems. But usually a re-install does the trick. It starts to skip, the pitch goes randomly up and down, and the sound quality starts to get sketchy. So like every 3 months I have to reinstall crap and tweak my computer to get it back to normal.

It really isn't so strange because I've found with gear you get what you pay for.

Yet a the same time, I've had nothing like that ever happen to me with Torq. My biggest gripe is the browser, but other than that, it's performed great for me. The new 1.5 upgrade was huge. Before it the "master tempo" was practically useless but with the zPlane Elastique time stretching I can pitch up or down as much as I want and there are zero artifacts. That's definitely my favorite new feature.

That's what I'm saying, it's not the software, it's the hardware.

You are getting it backwards.
