Can someone give me some background information on this, why is there a reason for them to care if there was uranium there or not? I'm a little confused.

The Israeli Air Force bombed the site claiming it was a hidden nuclear reactor, and Syria denied it.
So the IAEA are looking for evidences that there were nuclear materials in the bombed site.

Did Syria honestly think they could hide this? If they want a nuclear reactor, they should do it openly and avoid all this trouble.

I completely agree, I don't understand how Israel contains over 100+ nukes but they oppose of other countries to hold nukes. The Islamist radicals can be compared to the Jewish radicals aka Zionist. Wouldn't you agree?

We must make a distinction between nuclear weapons and nuclear energy. Syria being secretive about their nuclear project is not good. Israel is nuclear armed, that much is true, at least they should admit, and not be hypocritical when say Iran wants its own nuclear technology, under the supervision of the IAEA, which neither Syria or Israel has..

iran is a signatory to the NPT. israel is not. israel also isn't a theocracy.
