Last time I checked - Most of the people knew what is Youtube.com. Although opinions what is for are different (Some say it is for sharing videos, others state it is for much easier porn surfing) – I personally use it for Music search.

But then average person will ask a very logical question – Oh sir, but this is inconvenient to listen to music on youtube comparing to “easy to manage” play list on winamp or iTunes. And this is truly a Big Issue - especially relevant if you want to make some Nasty and Evil things with a particular song - like Remix or Edit it.

But this could be easily solved if you just could download any song (Video) from Youtube and save it in some useful format - (like mp3 or wma for example) – sounds like a good idea!

All people I knew were struggling because they didn’t knew how to make their favourite videos from Youtube to appear in their mp3 players and iPods and For quite a long time I couldn’t understand how calm Discovery Channel didn’t put together a program about this. Animal planet tells about some mating of insects and shit eating bugs but missed such an important and painful problem! This just doesn’t make sense! So I got fed up with it and put together a Short Step By Step manual.


So if you don’t know how to do that but you want to know how - you’re in the right place. For the matter of fact it is much easier today than before (lets say a year ago – when transcoding process could take up to some 5 minutes for each song!!! And you would need 2 different programs for that: VLC player and Windows Movie Maker). – If you have a handful of songs to be converted – it is a real PAIN IN THE ASS…

Today ill tell you how to make it in less than a few clicks.

Step 1.

Find a Song (Video) on youtube.com you’re looking to download.

Then you open http://downloadyoutubevideos.com in a separate window.

Than you copy the link of the video and paste it in the relevant field on latter website. Pretty much self explanatory? But wait!

Now, it is important to know that usually when we click on the video audio quality is below average (could be better in simple words) so before downloading it we need to get the most of it.

To do that we need to add a certain code in the end of the video link. “&fmt=18” is what you need to add. To avoid any confusion I added some screenshots (in the best traditions of “… for Dummies” book series)

So after you added this code to your link – then copy all of it and paste back to the relevant field on http://downloadyoutubevideos.com .

NOTE! To make your life easier – you need to download file as .flv

Ok now I assume you’ve downloaded the file and saved it in directory where you can find it. (Sometimes I download files hell knows where). Moving to next Step:

Step 2

You will need a special software for transcoding FLV files to MP3.
Software can be found here: http://freez-flv-to-mp3-converter.en.softonic.com/
Its Absolutely Free – and even after a month it will not ask you for money! God bless the www.smallvideosoft.com and Indian programmers who are working hard for $4 an hour so we can have a free useful soft!

After you install it – everything is as well pretty self explanatory – You upload FLV files in to the freez FLV to MP3 converter and press CONVERT button. (don’t forget to change an output directory – cuz its some weired one – [c:/mp3…] something.. Generally – the Desktop is the best place!)

And that’s it – 2 Steps and your favourite Video from Youtube became a pretty little mp3 file on your Desktop which you can listen, crop, mix, share or Upload back to Youtube!
