Anybody hear of this? It's based on a Japanese TV show, called "Game Center CX", which involves a salaryman named Arino playing through all these challenging old NES games. The DS game has the star of the show send your character (boy or girl, you pick) back to the past to play games with him as a kid... the games you play are 8-bit in look and feel, with some modern, user-friendly touches to them. You have to solve these challenges (i.e. get 200,000 points in a game, beat level 2 without dying) to unlock more games.

The games I've unlocked are:
Haggle Man - a platformer that's somewhat of a cross between Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle and Mario, where you're a little ninja.

Cosmic Gate - nothing to do with a really shitty trance band, it's basically a Galaga clone.

Star Prince - a fast-paced shooter that feels like the Star Soldier series on Turbo Grafx.

Rally King - an overhead racer, similar to RC Pro Am or Bump N Jump, even has a drift mechanic in it.

Eventually you unlock a 20 hour long RPG similar to the classic Dragon Quest games, it's the centerpiece of the game. But what really makes the game for me is all the odes to 80's gaming nostalgia - you and the young Arino discuss stuff like "The Wizard", rapid-fire controllers, secret codes. You also get new magazines called "Gamefan" where you can read previews of forthcoming games and learn strategies/cheat codes.

For anyone who has any nostalgia whatsoever of the 8-bit era, I HIGHLY recommend this game!
