Roland D-50 for me.

Shocking to see how old it is. The atmospheric effects are really what hooked me.

Jp8000= its the only synth that I want anymore. I am happy with my setup, except for not having that. I don't want the hassle of the hardware, I would like a replica vst for it. I know there are some that try, and I have tried them all, or most, but, to my ears they don't even sound close. I wish d16 would make one, they are good at emulating old Roland gear.

Neither of those synths are analog. The D-50 was a pretty awesome synth in its day (still is IMO), but it used PCM synthesis, which essentially made it a glorified rompler, and LAS synthesis, which was similar to analog modeling as we know it today. The JP-80X0 was, of course, an analog modeling synth. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it's important to remember that hardware <> analog.

Oh, and BTW, my vote would go to the Dave Smith Evolver series, which are analog-digital hybrids. I don't know of any software emulations of those synths. Absynth is probably the most similar.

Processing a highly structured and complex pattern of sensory input as a unified percept of "music" is probably one of the most elaborate features of the human brain.....understanding how music is perceived and how it may elicit intense sensations is far from being understood.
