It about time they implemented this kind of technology

As a student that travels everyday from richmond hill to ryerson, its quite obviously york region transit "gets it", compared to the TTC.

I really feel that in the past couple years, YRT has taken several steps towards making public transit a more convenient alternative. From LCD TV's on buses that display up to date news and weather, to buses outfitted with GPS that lets riders know when exactly teir bus will be arriving at their stop........its about time the TTC got on board.

unfortuently though, YRT is going to have the highest single ride fair in the GTA. i think it might even be in all ontario.

Just think, you can see them all bunched together on the screen (one rammed full, the rest empty, naturally), instead of just waiting and watching them go by in the other direction like usual.

This type of information works well out in York region, or on less frequent routes for the TTC, but is absolutely useless downtown, especially on the Spadina line. Even if the street cars are bunched up, you will be waiting max 10min.

If you are waiting for 20min or more, then it is handy to know when the bus is coming. 'Should I wait at the stop, or try and fit in one more errand before the bus comes?'.

Remember the buses/streetcars have had GPS for well over a year, as that is how they auto display the Street names. The subway cars are of course tracked, and have been for a long time. So sure this information is useful but to how many people, and at what locations?

I would love to see this in Mississauga, but the buses are infrequent enough that they stay on schedule most of the time. But it would be very handy on GO buses, since they can really be effected by traffic on their longer routes.
