If you own "Drowning in a Sea of Love"

Hello,

I have just received Nathan Fakes brilliant "Drowning in a Sea of Love" on cd as previously only had it digitally.

Anyway, I bought it from Amazon marketplace. It was advertised as "Like-New" and claimed the only problem was the cellophane wrapping had gone.

I've looked at it and my immediate reaction was that it was a copy. My reasons for thinking this are:

1) The quality of the print on the sleeve seems too low a resolution for a proper cd.

2) The quality of the paper of the sleeve is not what I'd expect it to be

3)The backing sleeve was upside down. This could have happened afterwards I suppose, it was easy enough for me to turn it the right way around

4) The printed label on the cd itself does not fully meet the edge of the cd. There's about 2mm all the way round where the printed label doesnt meet the edge.

5) The data side of the cd looks to have a slight gold tint to it (though I'm really not sure if I'm imagining this)

Can anyone who owns the original cd take a look and see if yours is the same please?

Its not the end of the world or nothing but I like to own the original of albums I enjoy. I could knock up a copy myself for free. I also like to know I've got the music at the highest possible quality. If this is a copy it is most probably a 192 mp3 off a torrent site.

Thanks

All Nathan Fake's releases look fake. It's his trademark marketing strategy.

When is life not a psycho-sexual drama masquerading as a moral parable as a young man earns his manhood by being the complacent observer of an undifferentiated father figure enacting transferred revenge against his own sadistic father, a dentist, who frowned on his elaborately developed oral fixation with sweets?

If you want to check whether its a 192, open it in Goldwave and look at the frequency analysis graphs. If they seem cut off, its from a 192 or another mp3. If they look smooth without sharp drops and in a sense look natural, then its from a wav.

Okay, I went ahead and took a look at my copy (yes, I bought an actual copy from a store, and paid way too much money, at that), and everything on my copy seems consistent with the features you mentioned.

-The cover image is low resolution, and looks like it was printed off some guy's computer.

-I'm not sure what kind of quality you'd expect for the paper, but it seems professional enough to me, and has a thicker texture to it. The paper is also folded up four ways, rather than bound in order to create pages, so take a look at that.

-The backing sleeve is right-side up, but as you said, the fact that yours wasn't doesn't really indicate anything.

-The printed label on the CD does not fully meet the edge, and there is the same amount of space between the edge of the label and edge of the CD that you described.

-The data side of the CD doesn't have any goldish tint whatsoever.

So, all things considered, I'm pretty sure you have an official copy.
