Re: The Revolution of 1917, American-Style

Does anyone else see any parallels in what's going on right now in the US with the 1917 Soviet revolution, where an angry and populist Bolshevik majority stormed the gates of the elite and redistributed their wealth?
Less bloody, of course, but the idea is the same: The privileged few are a cancer upon the body of the population; their influence and wealth must be curbed; power belongs to the "plain Joes"; the uneducated and lower-class masses are screaming, "Down with the wealthy elites!"
That this Marxist turn of events should occur in, of all places, the United States, the stronghold of capitalism, is the height of irony. I bet McCarthy is turning in his grave right now.

No. Nothing in this country compares to the Bolshevik revolution. No one is abandoning free market capitalism. What is happening is the system is being reigned in so that a recession of this kind and magnitude never happen again. Call it Marxism, call it socialism, call it whatever you like. Laissez-faire capitalism does not work and I'm glad the leadership knows this and is acting upon it.
EDIT: and just to be clear, what's happening now is not marxism, or communism!

I guess the similarities that I can think of for the topic is that both "revolutions" are full of lies. Communists lied, now capitalists are lying. More personal and political gains than progress and improvement. Long term there are more serious problems that can hurt American financial system.
But in reality,
NOTHING can compare to the 1917 "Revolution".
It wasn't a revolution as the communists claim - it was a coup d'etat followed by a civil war. They were a minority, and became strong because while millions of real men were fighting WW1, they were planting to undermine and turn the country upside down. It wasn't about redistribution of wealth and power - it was about control and destruction of national system and values - because those could possibly become a threat to their control. Wealth? Yeah, redistributed so that everyone in the country became equally poor.
