MIDI Dump

I have searched all over the Internet but could not find answers. Can someone please help me understand thesenquestions better?

1. When do you perform a MIDI dump?
2. What external software do you perform it with (on your computer) from your hardware synth?
3. How do you back-up your factory presets with a dump?
4. How do you import presets?

Generally every day at about 3 PM, sometimes in the mornings on weekends. You don't want to put it off and end up having to use some public terminal while you're out on a hot date.
