Metallica's "Heavy Magnetic"
So without Lars' (not Larissa or Chris Larsen) permission I illegally downloaded their new album. I have no guilt on this, as I have been to over five concerts, bought hundreds of dollars of merch, bought all their catalogue on cassette and cds (before the black album of course), and was the few who was banned from napster for having a tune of theirs in my library that was dled via napster.
Since their Black album they decided to turn away from their metal roots and lift up to a bigger market, the mainstream listener.
The hired Bob Rock, who previously helped Bon Jovi, and Motley Crue and Aerosmith, he was known to take a band up a notch and give a polished, supremely produced to perfection, but essentially in my opinion, poppy.
I did dl their Black album as it wasn't metal and aggressive, it was a great hard rock album that was classic. They then unloaded Load and ReLoad which in my opinion was sub par to their classic heavy recordings, and not catchy like their past catalogue. They definitely lost many fans, but gained a new generation also. So fast foward to now, they have decided to go back to their roots and hire a true great producer in my opinion called Rick Rubin, who is famous for Beasties Boy's debut album, Blood Sugar Sex Majik by RHCP, most of Slayer's albums...list goes on pretty much everything he has done, is hit to me, imo.
So I'm giving the album right now for the second time, and all I can say the mighty Metallica is back since 1988s, ..."And Justice of All"
Metallica is back, baby!
9/10 10 is hard one to get, never abused.
